The Truth About Bath Bombs
Cherry Blossoms Spa Health Alert: Soaking Up Chemicals in your Bath
Nothing beats a relaxing soak in the bath tub at the end of a long day (well maybe a massage or facial…), but be careful when you reach for those popular bath bombs to add extra pizzazz to your experience. You may be getting more than the extra fizz and fragrance.
Many of these products contain a seemingly endless list of toxic and questionable ingredients that you are absorbing (!!) while lying in your tub thinking you are doing something wonderful for yourself.
· Synthetic fragrances (some of the most toxic ingredients known, and yes they are also in your perfumes), which have been linked to cancer, neurotoxicity, respiratory irritation, and more.
· Artificial dyes, which, as of late, are linked to ADHD, neurological damage and cancers.
· Ingredients that can lead to Urinary Tract Infections due to altering the body’s PH level.
· Glitter!! Tiniest pieces of plastic that can irritate your skin, especially when they come in contact with those sensitive bits and parts.
This does not mean that you need to give up on those relaxing bath sessions altogether. It just means that you choose alternatives that will not harm you in the process. There are naturally made bath bombs that do not contain these ingredients. Another option would be to choose Epsom salt and essential oils for fragrance or you may choose to make your own bath bombs. There are recipes online that use natural ingredients. It could be a fun weekend project or gift idea that ends in a relaxing and healthy bath.
